“Watching is not enough, you need to look with eyes that want to see, that believe in what they see”. In this sentence of Tuscany scientist Galileo Galilei is enclosed the inspiring concept of the third edition of Tecnologia e Passione, well established award for innovation in Tissue and Paper & Board industry, held in Porcari Lucca on October, 17th, thanks to Fondazione Giuseppe Lazzareschi and Toscotec. S.p.A.
Look beyond was chosen by Toscotec as the inspiring concept of this edition of “Tecnologia e Passione”, to highlight the need to go over the first appearance, over the obvious, to look for solutions leading to development and growth.
Held at Fondazione Giuseppe Lazzareschi, with the participation of the leading international entities of this field, Toscotec’s aim was to encourage Italian and foreign companies that, thanks to their passion and know-how, could innovate and renovate a production sector in continuous growth, as stated by Alessandro Mennucci, managing director of Toscotec, during his introductory speech: “Thinking about the companies that will be awarded today, we noticed that, first of all, they had to cross the borders of their countries, overcoming language and culture barriers. These companies accepted and won these challenges, realizing significant projects for technological innovation and involvement of human resources.”
The “Tecnologia e Passione 2008” award consisted in a long fiber pulp sculpture, realized on purpose by Lucca artist Simone Gelli. The awarded companies are Industria Cartaria Pieretti and Cartiera della Basilica (both from Lucca), Cartiera Ciacci (Republic of San Marino), Mimosa Sanitary Paper and Sociètè Libanaise de Carton – Solicar (Lebanon), Berli Jucker Cellox (Thailand), Potlach (USA), Wepa (Germany and Italy), while Mr.Fabio Perini, extraordinary innovator and undisputed protagonist of the main innovations in the paper industry, received the Career Award.
